Who is Keith Minikus?
Keith pursued his education at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX where he received a degree in exercise science, history and education.
While at Texas State; Keith powerlifted with San Marcos Athletic Club. In his junior year he was introduced to the sport of Olympic lifting by Leo Seitz, Strength & Conditioning Coach, Texas State University.
Following college Keith began lifting under the tutelage of coach Ursula Garza and competed in the 2016, 2015, 2014, 2011 National Championships. Ursula has been instrumental in Keith's coaching and competitive career.
Gaining an advanced weightlifting education under one of the Nations premier Senior International Coaches. Ursula travels the country teaching advanced weightlifting courses and is the coach of the 2014 Men's National Weightlifting Champions.
Very few people can say that they learned from one of the best coaches in the country and Keith's knowledge did not occur during some weekend course but from years of training under the best coach in the country.
Professionally Keith began at The Competitive Training Center as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach to Matt Geirenger where he helped to implement programs for professional baseball, football and MMA fighters as well as youth and high school athletes.
Keith left the Competitive Training Center to build his own training brand as well as develop the programming and Olympic Weightlifting at Defiant Crossfit.
Keith has never stopped being a competitive athlete and believes that gives him a competitive advantage when it comes to developing athletes. Keith was recruited by several colleges to play football ultimately deciding to remain in state and attend Texas Lutheran University as a DE. Keith left TLU early in his career to change schools and began playing semi-professional/amateur football which he has played since high school.
